What to Do for an Irrigation System Leak

Your backflow device may look similar to this.

  1. Locate Your Backflow Device: The backflow device prevents water from flowing back into your main water supply. It's usually found above ground or in a ground box with a lid. Look for a bronze-colored device with handles on both sides.

  2. Turn Off the Water: Once you've found the backflow device, use pliers to turn either handle to the off position. This will stop the water flow to your irrigation system.

  3. Check for Water Shutoff: Wait a minute or two and confirm that the water has stopped flowing. This indicates that you've successfully turned off the water supply.

  4. Schedule Repairs: After the water is shut off, contact us to repair the leak.

This should help you manage the situation and avoid further water loss until professional help can arrive.
